A Devotion to Christ...A Difference in the World

About Us

At Greenwich Baptist Church we seek to:

CONNECT with God, GROW in Christ, SERVE in the Spirit

Every action and ministry at GBC will strive to fulfill this mission by examining the following priorities...
  • Be a Community of Grace, filling our hearts and homes
  • Equip the believer to live a life of influence
  • Engage a hurting world with the relevance of the gospel
  • Worship is a lifestyle, demonstrated in how we live daily
  • Be governed by the Holy Spirit through prayer, study and service

What We Believe

Greenwich Baptist Church is a congregation committed to Biblical truths. We seek to minister to those around us by demonstrating Christ’s compassion for the world and by being a welcoming Christian community. We are Christ-centered in our doctrine and Bible-based in our teaching.

We believe in one God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Matthew 5:16, 45; James 1:17; John 1:1; 14:9; Genesis 1:2; John 4:24; 2 Peter 1:21)

We believe Jesus died, was buried, and rose again bodily from the dead on the third day. (Luke 23:44 - 24:8; John 20:24-29; 1 Corinthians 15:3-8)

We believe in Jesus Christ, God's one and only Son, our one and only Savior (John 1:14; 1 John 4:9; John 3:16; 2 Peter 3:18)

We believe the Bible teaches that salvation and the forgiveness of sins are achieved only by grace through the blood of Jesus Christ. (Matthew 26:28; Romans 5:9; Ephesians 2:8-9; 1 Peter 1:18-19; 1 John 1:7)

We believe the Bible teaches that one receives God's grace by putting faith in Christ, repenting of sin and confessing Christ. (Romans 5:1-2; Luke 24:45-47; Acts 3:19; 17:30; 2 Peter 3:9; Matthew 10:32; Philippians 2:11; Acts 2:38; Romans 6:1-7; 1 Peter 3:21)

We believe that the ordinance of baptism is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer’s faith in a crucified, buried and risen Lord. We believe the Lord’s Supper is a symbolic act, commemorating the sacrificial death of the Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 3:13-17; Luke 22:14-20; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26).

We believe every human is competent to relate to God individually. However, one must recognize that the church forms the basic biblically-mandated context for Christian living. (Acts 2:42-47; Heb. 10:25; 1 Tim. 3:14-15)

We believe the Old and New Testament scripture were written as God’s Holy Word by men divinely inspired. The Bible alone is authoritative. (2 Timothy 3:16)

We believe the Church is the body of Christ on earth, empowered by the Holy Spirit and exists to evangelize the lost and edify the saved. (Ephesians 4:1-16)

We accept that beyond such foundational elements of our faith there is room for differing interpretations of Biblical truth. Our emphasis on Spirit-led Bible study leads us into deeper understanding of the nature of God and His plan and purpose for each of us.
